Geek Chic Fellowship Collection Swatches

The newest Geek Chic Cosmetics collection, and it's based on Lord of the Rings! I've never read the books, but I do LOVE the movies. And I have the books, and I keep meaning to read them... *sigh* Maybe one day I'll get into Tolkien.

The "background" in this picture changed a bit, because I couldn't find the table I usually use. I was also faced a different direction, the sun wasn't cooperating, and I was visiting with my sister-in-law at the same time as I was swatching. She was really interested in a few of the shades, and I think she really liked seeing the collection in person. It was actually really fun having someone there when I was swatching that is as equally excited about beautiful makeup as I am.

As usual, all descriptions of shades are taken directly from the Geek Chic website to ensure accuracy.

"The world is indeed full of Peril and in it there are many dark places. But still there is much that is fair. And though in all the lands, love is now mingled with grief, it still grows, perhaps, the greater." -- J.R.R. Tolkien

One Ring

 photo geekchicfellowship_onering_zps954499d8.jpg

DescriptionTrue gold, full of golden sparkle and shimmer.

I was really excited about this shade, and it is gorgeous. It is also just a little bit on the scary side of gold, where things can get too extreme for my pale skin. It would be really fun for a night out, or even as a gold eyeliner.
It is very flaky, and I could see an issue with fallout. However, generally when Geek Chic shades are applied wet, there is minimal fall out so it shouldn't be an issue.

Samwise the Brave

 photo geekchicfellowship_samwisethebrave_zps265d439d.jpg

DescriptionA burnt blackened copper.

If I use this on my lids only, I think it will be okay. It is a lot more bronzy than the pictures seem to indicate, and it is a gorgeous shade. I could see this one making a really fun nail polish one day, if I ever get around to attempting to mix my own.

Heir of Isildur

DescriptionA deep, dark, emerald green.

It looks similar to Samwise the Brave in the swatch, but I can assure you, this is green. And it is gorgeous. I really love to wear blue and green eyeshadows (I think I should have been a teenager/young adult in the 80s, instead of born in them), and I really can't wait to use this one. The sparkle in it is beautiful as well- I'm thinking that none of my other makeup does shimmer and glitter as well as Geek Chic, which says something, because I own a LOT of Urban Decay. My sister-in-law and I actually talked about how these look like they could belong to Urban Decay. That's how high quality, pigmented, and beautiful the shades are.

I Am No Man

(I forgot to take a picture of the label)

DescriptionA soft white gold with a pearl sheen.

This is a really beautiful neutral- with a little extra kick!

Stormcrow

DescriptionA simple sandy brown with a pearly sheen.

This is a really gorgeous sheen color. I think it would make a really great lid color, and would actually pair perfectly with some of the shades in the Naked 3 Palette.

Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold

 photo geekchicfellowship_faroverthemistymountainscold_zpscfb8c2ac.jpg

DescriptionA bold, blackened purple, packed full of blue highlight and sparkles.

I feel like this is coming off more blue than purple, but trust me. In person, this is a gorgeous purple with beautiful blue sparkle. It is a beautiful shade that I can't wait to use for a smokey-eye.

Into The West

 photo geekchicfellowship_intothewest_zps20e5a635.jpg

DescriptionA golden green with white gold glitter.

I don't know why, but I could not get this to swatch nicely- I even retried the swatch. This shade is really vibrant. I am a huge Seattle Seahawks fan, and this is the green I have been looking for in terms of makeup for games. I can't wait to try it out! (And I'm hoping to be doing so for the Superbowl this year, but we'll see how playoffs go!)

Lady of the Golden Wood

 photo geekchicfellowship_ladyofthegoldenwood_zps53666a7f.jpg

DescriptionA deceptively complex pearly white, with golden hilights and flares of red and violet.

This is white. And I don't know how much I'll use it, but it's always nice to have a good white for mixing purposes, and maybe highlighting. I'm pretty pale, so it should work out okay!

As of this post, the full collection is on sale for $38.34, or you can buy each individual shade for $5.99 each. I think each shade is pretty unique, and would definitely be worth looking into!

FTC: I purchased this collection with my own money. I am not affiliated with Geek Chic cosmetics. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
