Allure Fall Beauty Box Unboxing

I received my Allure Magazine Fall Beauty Box in the mail on 08/09/13, and I thought it would be fun to do an unboxing of all of the products that I received!




The box itself really wasn't anything exciting, and really didn't show where it was coming from. Which I really didn't mind- it's what is inside the box that I was excited for!



When I opened the box, there was a brochure listing all of the products, and they were all divided in the box with styrofoam. I pretty much just lifted the divider out (the chambers were too small for me to put my hands in come of them), and started digging!

I will probably do a follow up of this post where I review some of the products I have used- this is just a complete overview of the products received.
All descriptions are directly from the brochure that came with my box. I have also included a how to use, which I have obtained from the websites listed.



Burt's Bees Revitalizing Lip Balm with Blueberry & Dark Chocolate

How to use: Apply balm liberally to your lips as often as needed, particularly in dry, cold or windy conditions.
Will I use it?: I'm going to give it a try. I haven't been super impressed with their lip balms in the past, so I have low expectations.



Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Hair Mask

How to use: Massage gently into clean, wet hair, giving a little extra love to your frazzled ends. Leave the treatment mask on for 5 to 7 minutes and then rinse well. TIP: For an extra-deep treatment, put on a shower cap and sit under a hood dryer for 10 to 15 minutes. This will help the nourishing ingredients get deep into your hair. Best results when used weekly.
Will I use it?: Yes. As I have stated before, my hair is damaged. I've been doing some research and think it will be quite useful. I'm going to try it out. I have to be very careful about masks because some can leave my hair weighted down, but in looking at the texture of this product, I don't think that will be a problem. At least, I am hopeful that it won't!



Cetaphil DailyAdvance Lotion Ultra Hydrating

How to use: Use daily for optimal hydration. Apply liberally as often as needed.
Will I use it?: I was actually really excited for this product, too, because I have never used a cetaphil product. I've heard really great things about their cleansers, and I know the lotion is really popular amongst people with eczema. I don't have eczema, but I have some dry patches that I'm interested if this can help.



Goldwell StyleSign Magic Finish Hairspray

How to use: Spray onto dry hair.
Will I use it?: I'm not one to use hairspray every day, or even once a week, but I will definitely be giving this a try! I'm interested to know if it really does enhance my color. Also, on the can it states this allows for easy brush-out, so I'm interested to know if it does that as well. My hair gets super tangled and hairspray and it are not good friends.

How to use: Shake. Spray 10"-12" from dry hair to seal in finished style.
Will I use it?: Yes, I actually used it on Saturday! I do feel like it helped my hair from getting frizzy, and my hair was nice and shiny. I will definitely use it again!



Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash

How to use: Cleanse twice a day. Wet face. Apply to hands, add water and work into a lather. Massage face gently. Rinse thoroughly.
Will I use it?: I've used this multiple times since receiving it, and so far I'm enjoying it. I actually have used this product before, but never did repurchase, since I'm a product girl and like to try new things. I will definitely continue using this!



Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair Night Moisturizer

How to use: Apply evenly to cleansed face and neck every day. Turn pump to "closed" position when not in use.
Will I use it?: I have also been using this nightly since receiving my box. I haven't noticed any changes yet, but my skin isn't irritated by it at all, so I will keep using. I'll be sure to update if I notice any tone repairing!



Neutrogena TRIPLE MOISTURE Deep Recovery Hair Mask

How to use: After shampooing, apply a small amount to wet hair, concentrating on ends.  Let penetrate for 3 to 5 minutes.  Rinse well.  Style as usual.
Will I use it?: Yes. Just like with the Carol's Daughter hair mask, I plan on using this every once in awhile. This product gets really great reviews, so I am excited to try it out!



Pixi Eye Bright Liner

How to use: Line inner lower rim of eye - the area between your eye and lower lashes- for an instant eye brightening effect. This is a tried & true makeup artist trick and it works with great effect both for everyday life and it looks amazing in photos. The liner is waterproof so it will not move or run.
Will I use it?: I have also used this, and was also very impressed. I really enjoy the Tarte emphasEYES, and this seems like it's pretty much the same product. But this one is cheaper, and as of writing this post, I've had it on for about 8 hours and it still looks the way it did when I first put it on. I will definitely continue to use it.



La Roche-Posay Redermic Eyes Dermatological Anti-Aging Eye Corrector - Intensive

How to use: Apply morning and evening on thoroughly cleansed face, moving from the inside of the eye area outwards and extend to the temples.
Will I use it?: Yes. Granted, I don't have any deep wrinkles, but I do have some tiny (basically insignificant, that only I can see) fine lines. I've read this stuff is basically a miracle worker, so we'll see how it works on teensy baby lines.



Redken All Soft Argan-6 Oil

How to use: Apply on dry or damp hair concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends. Re-apply on dry hair as needed.
Will I use it?: Yes, I'm actually really glad this was included in the box, because I am almost out of the Josie Maran Argan Oil that I received in my Summer QVC New Beauty Test Tube.



Redken satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion

How to use: Apply to damp hair and blow-dry.
Will I use it?: Yes. I am a huge fan of blow-dry lotions, and love that most of them multitask as a heat protectant. Upon further research, I've also discovered this helps protect hair from UV Rays, which equals color protection! I have already used this a couple of times since receiving the box, and have been very impressed. My hair dried very nicely, and evenly, and didn't seem as tangled.



RoC MULTI CORREXION NOURISH Stress Repair Eye Cream

How to use: Apply in small dots around the eye area and gently smooth until thoroughly absorbed. Use alone or under makeup once or twice a day in the AM and/or PM.
Will I use it?: Yes. I plan on alternating this with the La Roche-Posay, maybe weekly, to see which gives the best results.



Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs in Medium

How to use: Apply a quarter-sized amount of product into hands. Smooth on evenly to legs and feet; rub in completely paying close attention around feet and knees. Allow to set before dressing. Wash hands thoroughly after application. Removes easily with soap, water and a washcloth.
Will I use it?: This is the only product in the box that I will definitely not be using. It's way too dark for my fair skin tone. I will be giving it away to someone who wants it.

How to use: Start with clean, dry nails and apply one coat of your favorite Complete Salon Manicure shade. Allow to dry. Then apply a second coat of color. No base or top coat required and the precision brush allows for easy application.
Will I use it?: Absolutely! I am obsessed with nail polish, and I really have nothing similar to this polish. This will be on my fingers as soon as I'm sure I can wear non-neutrals to my new job!



Sally Hansen Ouch-Relief Wax Strip Kit

How to use: 1. Apply the Pain-Relief Technology pre-treatment wipe. It's important to wait for 10 minutes to allow the treatment to dry and work. 2. Rub the wax strip between your hands to warm the wax. Then slowly peel the strips apart. 3. Determine the direction of hair growth and PRESS ON wax strip firmly. 4. Hold skin taught with one hand. With the other hand, PULL OFF the wax strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. 5. After waxing is complete, remove any wax residue and help to remoisturize the skin with a small amount of Azulene Finishing Oil on a cotton ball or tissue.
Will I use it?: I haven't decided if I'll be trying this out myself, or if I'll just be gifting it to someone. I'm not sure how I feel about waxing, and my skin is really sensitive.

How to use: 
Will I use it?: Yes, I definitely will. This was one of the products I knew I was going to love, no matter what set of strips ended up coming. I own two other sets (Sweet Marble Floret and Wild Child), and I find them very easy to use and I love them. And they last me over a week, which is amazing!

How to use: Massage a small amount into cuticles until completely absorbed. Use a cuticle pusher, if needed, to help further loosen hard to remove cuticles. Use daily for maximum benefits. Wash hands before applying polish.
Will I use it?: As I write this post, I currently have this on my cuticles. It feels very moisturizing, and not at all greasy. It also doesn't smell weird, which is nice.

How to use: (there are no directions- but it's a nail polish. You pretty much just put it on your nails.)
Will I use it?: Again, I love nail polish. I do have a color that is similar to this, but I will still use it. I have heard the Sation nail polishes are a little thin, and need a few coats to become opaque, so I will keep that in mind when applying.



Schick Hydro Silk

Will I use it?: I have used this since getting this box, and my legs feel extremely smooth. Typically I shave my legs every three to four days, so we shall see! My legs definitely do feel more moisturized without a post-shower lotion.

How to use: Smooth gently into your face and neck using upward and outward movements.
Will I use it?: I have actually used this as well, and feel like it was very moisturizing without being too greasy. I had a slight dry patch on my face that is completely gone. I'm going to keep using this on and off to see how I like it.



Skintimate Skin Therapy Sensitive Skin

How to use: Wet area To be shaved. Dispense onto fingers, or directly on the area to be shaved. Gently rub over skin To produce a rich, luxurious lather.Shave. Rinse off skin after shaving.
Will I use it?: Yes, I pretty much only use skintimate shaving cream, and this one is one of my favorite formulations they offer. I actually have a container of this exact one in my shower right now!


Then I received a product not listed. The brochure stated I should receive the Tibolli Hair Oil, however, this was no where to be found. Instead, I received the GK hair taming system serum with juvexin.

How to use: After towel-drying, apply a small amount of serum to the lengths of hair.Style as normal, applying an tiny amount after styling to smooth down frizz.
Will I use it?: Sure! It seems like a product I might find useful, and it has Argan Oil, which I really enjoy.

I also received the following bonus sample in my box. I almost wonder if this is due to me not receiving the Tibolli Hair Oil, but there wasn't anything said about it, so I can't be sure.



RoC Retinol Correxion Sensitive Night Cream

How to use: Apply to face and neck each night when skin is most receptive to repair and renewal. Use alone or under your regular moisturizer. You may experience mild tingling or redness during use. This is normal and should be temporary until your skin adjusts. Apply a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher during the day while using this product. Continue using a sunscreen for one week after stopping use of this product. If you have never used retinol products before, begin by limiting use to every other night, then gradually increase frequency to once a night as tolerated.

Will I use it?: I plan on using this sample, but I don't think it will be enough to form a lasting opinion. We shall see!

Overall, I am extremely happy with the products that I received in this box. Even though I didn't receive the Tiboli Hair Oil, I am actually just as happy with the serum! And the bonus sample, even though it's a foil packet, will still be used, and was a nice surprise. I think the price I paid versus what was received is incredible ($39.99 plus tax and shipping for over $300.00 worth of products)! And, as you can see above, I am planning on using a majority of these products! I'm very happy I went ahead and bought this box, and will definitely be looking into purchasing again in the future!
